For as long as we’ve been making smoothies this Cacao Heaven Smoothie has been our go-to recovery, pick me up boosting smoothie recipe of choice. It’s a great basic cacao smoothie recipe that we often add ingredients to and switch the nut butter variety around. You’ll find us adding 1/2 an avocado and enjoying it for breakfast, after a run or just to get ourselves through all the kids after school activities.
CACAO HEAVEN SMOOTHIE
Vegan & Gluten-free
Serves 1
INGREDIENTS
Basic smoothie ingredients
1 chilled banana
2 tbsp. of cacao powder
1 large date or ½ tsp. of date syrup
1 heaped tsp. of nut butter – usually peanut, cashew or almond butter
Plant-based milk
Optional additions
1 tsp. of lucuma powder – great for waking you up.
A handful of oats – makes it more filling and ideal for breakfast.
METHOD
Add all cacao heaven smoothie ingredients to the blender and cover in your chosen plant-based milk.
Blend until smooth and creamy. Then grab a sustainable straw and enjoy your Cacao Heaven Smoothie!
